As a kitchen painter I travel quite a bit around Yorkshire. This particular hand painted kitchen project was in Huntington, York. The kitchen was solid oak and had been made by Chapel Kitchens around 13 years ago. I have worked on a lot of kitchens over the years and the quality of the cabinetry work on this kitchen was second to none.
To give their new painted kitchen a truly bespoke look the clients wanted to introduce a secondary colour to accent certain sections. During the consultation I suggested that the recessed area above the hob, the plate rack and the inside of glass fronted cabinets would work best in the secondary colour, giving balance to the the layout of the room.
A small amount of joinery was needed before painting began; this included the planing of some of the doors and draws to ‘make room’ for the layers of paint and also the addition of a shelved area where the washing machine used to be.

Testimonial –
‘We thought long and hard before deciding to have our bespoke oak kitchen hand painted. We knew that the kitchen needed a refresh, but we were concerned the quality of the kitchen units may be spoilt with any substandard paint work. The challenge was to find somebody with the necessary skills to do the kitchen justice. Well we certainly found that person in Lee Simone. Lee is not only an obvious talent at his craft but also a very well organised individual. The timescale allowed for completion of our kitchen was absolutely spot on. Lee ideally requires a blank canvas to carry out his work so be prepared to clear the kitchen and post “out of bounds” signs for family and pets and stock up on microwave meals for the duration. However, trust us the end result is well worth any short-term inconvenience. Lee’s trick is his attention to detail, his preparation work is immense which is critical before applying any first coat of paint.
During the consultation stage Lee was very influential in advising on colour schemes, and once we had selected the colours for our kitchen he was able to find a suitable paint that gave a great match to our requirements. As an indication to his talent and professionalism Lee is in very high demand and as such customers should be prepared to wait for his services, but we would suggest that the wait is well worth while. Lee has transformed our kitchen giving it a fresh, clean crisp look which we are highly delighted with. We would have no hesitation in recommending Lee to any person requiring a high standard of work.’
